The year will end in a week's time. I expect my Singapore stock investment return to be between 7.0% and 8.0%, inclusive of dividend.
STI was 3,167.43 at the beginning of the year and 3,345 right now (before the market close). The YTD return for STI is 5.6%, excluding the dividend. It is very tedious to compute the dividend as the index consists of 30 stocks with different weighting. Hence, an easier benchmark for me would be the STI ETF, which is the exchange traded fund that tracks the STI.
STI ETF was $3.23 at the start of the year and $3.38 right now. The total dividend payout in 2014 is 8.8 cents (yield of about 2.6%). The YTD return for STI ETF, inclusive of dividend, is 8.05%. It appears that my Singapore stock investment return will be on-par or slightly underperforming the STI ETF this year.
